Would be grandparents

So here we are my wife and I bereft of children in our lives. we have looked after so many and yet have none to call our own. we didn't know that we would feel this way until we stopped looking after children. we had a surrogate granddaughter whom we loved without abandon but her mother thought otherwise. So how do we fill this hole in our lives?
